Rolls-Royce flies high: aircraft engines

Article Abstract:

US aircraft-engine makers cried foul after Rolls Royce secured $2 billion in contracts, mostly from Singapore Airlines, at the Paris Air Show. The British firm was rescued from bankruptcy and heavily subsidized by the government, and GE and Pratt & Whitney claim it is still competing unfairly.

Article Abstract:

The governments of Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK have agreed to continue with the EFA's development. German defense minister Volker Ruhe dropped his opposition to the fighter in response to a report that suggests that the EFA's costs could be reduced by at least 20%.
