Russia's richest man stands by Kremlin rule

Roman Abramovich, a billionaire oil baron in Russia has defended Kremlin control of the petroleum industry and openly supports President Vladimir Putin. Mr. Abramovich says there is nothing wrong with state ownership of the petroleum industry, "It's always a question of management" he said, "the state can hire any manager, including me."

Israel decides it will expel Arafat

The government of Israel has decided to expel Yasser Arafat, chairman of the Palestinian Authority, from the occupied Palestinian territories. However, Palestinian officials said that such a move would lead to chaos in the region.
