S-92 options grow

Article Abstract:

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp has signed up another potential client for its S-92 helicopter, with Aircontactgruppen A/S initialling a Letter of Intent for six S-92s. The agreement brings the number of S-92s on option under Letters of Intent to 10. Another five are the subject of $100,000 deposits signed by Cougar Helicopters. Norway's Aircontactgruppen is a private firm that specializes in local aviation industry representation, operating lease arrangements and global air brokering.

European tiltrotor "clouded"

Article Abstract:

The development of a European tiltrotor may be in jeopardy due to conflicting views from Agusta, GKN Westland and Eurocopter, which co- founded Eurofar with the European Commission. Eurocopter wanted to proceed to the next stage of building a technology demonstrator and work towards an economic commercial tiltrotor. However, Agusta and Westland think that funding would be better spent on the BA609 project and new compound helicopter technology.

Joint Euro tiltrotor submission

Article Abstract:

Eurocopter and Agusta/GKN-Westland have submitted a joint proposal for a tiltrotor project to the European Commission (EC) in Mar 2000. The proposal, entitled 2-GETHER, involves a four-year research program for technology and analytical studies of both companies' tiltrotor concepts. Both companies are proposing an aircraft in the 10,000 kg class, but Agusta/GKN-Westland's proposal includes a novel partial tiltwing design.
