SABMiller has a tall order

Article Abstract:

SABMiller PLC is in talks with executive Ian Molson and Onex Corp. to arrange a possible joint offer to acquire Canada's Molson Companies Inc. Though the deal would greatly increase SABMiller's share of the Canadian market, the British brewery must first contend with a tie-up already in the works between Molson and U.S.'s Adolf Coors Co.

Interbrew acquires majority control of Russian affiliate

Belgian beer company Interbrew S.A. has purchased a controlling share in its Russian affiliate Sun Interbrew Ltd. and now controls 75.5% of that company's shareholder voting rights. The move signals the Interbrew's commitment to Russia's fast-growing beer market.
