SAS profit tumbles 41% in half as demand slows

Article Abstract:

Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) reported an fall of 41% in its pretax profits for the first-half of 1999. The carrier posted 495 million kronor (56.1 million euros) during the period. During the same period in 1998, SAS posted 837 million kronor. The carrier stated that its pretax profits for the entire 1999 year will be much lower than its 1998 levels. SAS attributed this to ongoing slow growth in demand.

Unfavorable climate sinks profit 35% at Scandinavian Air
