Article Abstract:

Hero Honda Motors recorded a 31 percent and TVS Suzuki 28 percent growth in sales in the first half of 1998-99. All 2-wheeler companies barring LML posted growth in sales in the second quarter of 1998-99. Escorts and TVS Suzuki posted a growth of 36 percent and 22 percent in sales respectively in the second quarter of 1998-99. Bajaj Auto recorded a growth in sales of 8 percent in the second quarter of 1998-99. These companies make 2- wheelers. (rk)

Article Abstract:

The operating profit margin of all hotels narrowed in the second quarter of 1998-99. EIH Hotels posted a 19 percent growth in its net profit margin in the first quarter of 1998-99 and 27 percent in the second quarter of 1998-99. Only Indian Resort Hotel posted 22 percent growth in income in the second quarter of 1998-99. (rk)

Dalmia Cement posted sales growth of 14 percent and India Cements 6 percent in the first half of 1998-99. Gujarat Ambuja Cement posted sales and net profit margin growth of 9 percent and 2 percent respectively in the second quarter of 1998-99 compared to those in the first quarter of 1998-99. (rk)
