Article Abstract:
Hindalco Industries Ltd of Calcutta, a part of the Aditya Birla group, is the biggest integrated aluminium manufacturer in India. It produces primary aluminium in the form of ingots and billets and manufacturers value-added products like wire rods, rolled products, extrusions and foils. It has a smelting capacity of 242,000 tonnes per annum (tpa), alumina refining capacity of 450,000 tpa and power generation capacity of 612 mw. It has a rolled products capacity of 80,000 tpa and extrusion capacity of 13,700 tpa. It has recently set up a 5000 tpa foil plant and is setting up an alloy wheel plant. The company has been given the status of a Trading House and has also recently acquired ISO 14001 certification. The company's metal is deliverable under the London Metal Exchange High Grade Primary Aluminium Contract. (khr)
