SIIC pledges no cutbacks, to plow $1.5 b into SAR

Shanghai Industrial Holdings and its parent Shanghai Industrial Investment Holdings, are investing a total of HK$1.2 bn in building a cigarette-production base in Tuen Mun. The new plant is expected to take over about half the production volume of Nanyang Tobacco by the end of August and to replace the To Kwa Wan factory in 1999. Besides, a warehouse and facilities for tobacco leaves expansion will be built at the site adjacent to the plant in early 1999. *

Swire plans $500m Cityplaza facelift

Article Abstract:

Swire Properties plans to invest HK$500 mn over the next 2 years in renovation of Cityplaza, a major shopping mall in Tai Koo Shing. It aims at transforming the shopping mall into one of the Hong Kong's top shopping centre on Hong Kong Island. The work will include the introduction of escalators, the realignment of shop fronts and the reconfiguration of pedestrian routing on the south side of the development. *
