S.KOREA: DANISCO SWEETENERS SUCCESSFUL WITH XYLITOL

Article Abstract:

Danisco Sweeteners is co-operating with Lotte in South Korea as regards the market for xylitol, the sweetener that is used in chewing gum, sweets and toothpaste among other things. According to Danisco Sweeteners's manager Nicholas Dunning, the company has been successful in South Korea with xylitol, and anticipates further growth in the country. South Korea is among the nations in the world with the highest per capita consumption of chewing gum. A little more than a year after xylitol was introduced on the Korean market chewing gum sweetened with xylitol has reached a market share of 50% in the country. Danisco and Lotte have also made a point of telling that xylitol is produced in Finland, which in South Korea is regarded as one of the cleanest and most exotic countries in the world.

LITHUANIA: DANISCO MIGHT REDUCE ACTIVITIES

Article Abstract:

Danisco Sugar, the Danish sugar company, is planning to invest up to DKr 136mn (USD 19.4mn) in the sugar industry in Lithuania during the next three-four years. However, the company says it might reduce activities if an ailing plant is not closed down.

POLAND: DANISCO SUGAR INCREASED PRODUCTION

Article Abstract:

The Danish company Danisco Sugar increased production in Poland by 15% to 62,000 tonnes in 1999. The company owns three plants in the country, and aims at a 20% market share. This goal is far from reached, the paper states.
