Schneider to buy Lexel for $1.06 bn

Article Abstract:

Scandanavian-based switch and plug manufacturer Lexel has been acquired by France's electrical engineering Schneider SA for $1.06 billion. Industry analysts have said that the deal will move Schneider into the Europe's second position among suppliers of low voltage electrical systems. Schneider is expected by some industry analysts to make a move into the US market for electrical installation in the near future.

Flowserve said to have bid for Weir Group

Article Abstract:

Flowserve Corp. is believed to be the party that made an approximately $1 billion offer to acquire Weir Group PLC, a maker of pumps based in Scotland. Weir's shares have risen in value by almost 60% since the company revealed that another party was interested in acquiring it. However, Weir did not say who that party was. A Flowserve spokesman would not acknowledge that it made a bid for Weir.

Weir to buy energy-equipment maker SPM

Article Abstract:

British engineering firm Weir Group PLC will purchase US equipment manufacturer SPM Flow Control Inc. to expand its opportunities in gas and oil exploration and production. The deal, valued at $653 mil, would raise Weir's oil business from 22% to 31% of the firm's total revenue.
