Sears predicts first-quarter profit will beat estimates

Sears Roebuck & Co. is expecting to post higher-than-expected earnings for the 2000 first-quarter. The company is expecting to see 62 cents to 67 cents (64 European cents to 70 European cents) per share earnings for the period.

Sears net fell 40% in 4th quarter after charges
