Shakeout for mobile phones

Article Abstract:

Australia-based PA Consulting Group predicts a minimal growth in telecommunications service subscribers in Asia following the financial turmoil that has afflicted most countries in the region. The management and technology consulting group has cut its previous estimate of 2.5 million subscribers in 1997 to only about 2.2 million, or just a 29% increase from the figure in 1996. The company advises mobile-phone service providers in Asia to find ways to reduce their operating costs and increase efficiency.
