Shell pulls out of group seeking big Rosneft stake

Article Abstract:

Royal Dutch/Shell has abandoned a consortium that is seeking to acquire 75% plus one share of Rosneft, the biggest oil company that remains on the hands of the Russian government. The company said that the present weakened condition of oil prices does not justify making a bid for Rosneft. Also cited was troubled economic condition in Russia, which would require Shell to fund a substantial portion of the bid. Shell was supposed to be making a bid for a majority stake in Rosneft with Gazprom and Lukoil.
