Shield Diagnostics shares are mired despite claim of progress with Axis

Article Abstract:

Shield Diagnostics PLC's shares continue to flounder despite its assurances over its proposed merger with Axis Biochemicals ASA. Doubts are arising over Shield Diagnostic's planned fund raising. The company stated that it was still engaged in talks with Axis over the merger. Shield Diagnostics is hoping to reach a merger agreement sometime during the latter half of February 1999. It is believed that Shield will have to pay approximately 10 million to 12 million pound sterling ($16.3 million to $19.6 million) for Axis.
