Article Abstract:

The Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's privatization plans of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) and his decision to indefinitely delay Egat's share offering are discussed. The state enterprise labor unions and the Egat workers feel that the privatization would raise prices and widen the gap between rich and poor in Thailand and that the lack of transparency in the share offering would benefit a few Egat executives and associates of some of the politicians.

Big broadband dreams

Article Abstract:

Shin Satellite (Sattel) is expected to soon deploy its new telecommunication satellite, called IPStar. It will be the largest ever put in space, weighing 6,775 kilograms. The satellite cost $350 million. However, critics have questioned potential commercial and technical problems with the project.
