Siemens reputation is under fire amid bribery trial

Article Abstract:

German authorities have brought two former executives of Siemens AG of Germany to court for alleged bribery in an ongoing investigation. The criminal case involves the power-generation-unit and the securing of gas turbine deals using 6 million Euros (about $7.9 million) in bribes. A larger case looms with several employees of the telecommunications unit involving 420 million Euros in questionable transactions.

Mobile phone call prices are dropping in the German market, decreasing market shares held by Deutsche Telekom AG and the UK's Vodafone Group PLC. Over 30 wireless brands are competing for German callers by offering low-cost, no-frills services, creating pricing that is similar to European market norms.
