Siemens sees Olympic opportunity

Article Abstract:

Siemens AG of Germany is in the midst of signing deals with China inspired by the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing, 2008. The electronics giant is putting together deals for security systems, baggage-handling equipment and possibly telecommunications equipment. It is forecast that the Chinese government will issue licenses for third generation wireless telecommunications services in 2006.

U.K. housing market buckles under weight of credit crunch

Home prices in the UK dropped 3% in August, announcing the end of the country's housing boom. Inflation-adjusted average prices for homes have risen nearly 60% since mid-2002, with an increase of 9% in only the past year. The impact of current credit market problems is discussed.

Deutsche Bank's gutsy Invensys bet: debt underwriting wagers on paring financial risks; gamble so far looks good

Deutsche Bank has made a gutsy bet on Invensys and has gambled that if it removes enough financial risk from the U.K engineering group's balance sheet, the price of its security will rise. Hence, it has underwritten secured loan facility and high yield bond for the company.
