Simmering dispute over antitrust

Article Abstract:

The similarities and differences between the European Union's (EU) and United State's antitrust policies are evident in the European Commission's decision to block the merger of Honeywell and General Electric. The antitrust authorities in the U.S. and EU cooperate closely and both aim for consumer welfare and a competitive economy, this case caused a serious disagreement on how to handle mergers. The similarities and differences in the antitrust policies are discussed in the context of the GE/Honeywell transaction.
