Snowsports holidays

Article Abstract:

The UK overseas snowsports holiday market is expected to fall in value from 625 million pounds sterling in 1998 to 585 million pounds sterling by 2002. Advertising expenditure from overseas tour operators in the UK for snowsport holidays has risen from 43.5 million pounds sterling in 1992 to 70.7 million pounds sterling in 1998. The market is affected by weather conditions, exchange rates and the economic climate. The most popular snowsports holiday destination for UK holiday makers is France, which accounted for 25% of snow holidays in the winter of 1997/98.

Snowsports

Article Abstract:

British skiing facilities are so limited that the majority of British holiday-makers travel to Austria, France or Italy to go skiing. Skiing holidays are less popular in 1996 than they have been in times of strong economic growth. Holiday costs vary according to changes in international exchange rates. The average holiday in June 1996 costs about 380 pounds sterling, an increase of 40 pounds sterling since 1994. Reduced rental charges for equipment have impacted equipment sales, which stand at 50 million pounds sterling per year.
