Soddies for bodies

Article Abstract:

Sod houses were used by early settlers in Nebraska, and the Doswe house is an exampleof restoration of this method of housing. The settlers had little access to wood, and stacked sods like bricks to build their houses. They offer good insulation and protection from tornadoes. Merle Block has built a sod house which is used as a museum. The National Sod House Society does not have enough funds to prmote conservation effectively, but sponsors field trips and other activities.
