Asian mutual fund companies, including UG Investment, Chartered Asset Management and Allard Growth Fund, are searching for strategies to deal with the changing markets as Internet stocks become popular but their prices volatile. Credit derivatives, technology stocks, electronic commerce stocks, valuation models, and regulatory rules are discussed along with specific stock performance of some firms. Zyxel Communications Corp., Jackin International Holdings Ltd. and Picogiga are mentioned.

Barter economy thrives among medium-size businesses; entrepreneurs are tapping exchanges as a way to reduce spending and build contacts

Article Abstract:

Barter exchanges are providing participants with a venue for new business contacts and for engaging in business without shelling out money. The process involves providing goods or services to fellow members. The value is accummulated in an account which can be spent on the products or services of the other members. One good example is an Australian drywalling contractor who acquired two industrial office buildings, a home and another rental house without mortgages and on barter.
