It is argued that in order that cities thrive, development should be diverse, chaotic, without prescriptions and guided by commercial rather than cultural considerations. Tony Siebenthaler of urban agent Downtown Liverpool, Liverpool, UK advocates the repopulation of Liverpool's city center with families, apart from the young and the retired, which would create immense potential.

Clive Gillman, the Foundation for Art & Creative Technology's (FACT) (Liverpool, England) associate director and lead artist, is profiled. FACT, an arts foundation that was set up in the late 1980s, recently began showing its new Austin-Smith:Lord-designed home to the public. Various matters regarding Gillman and FACT are discussed.

Liverpool joins the culture club

Article Abstract:

Liverpool in Great Britain, succeeded in winning the bid as the European Capital of culture. Liverpool will celebrate its 800th anniversary in the year 2007 and hence wants to preserve its heritage by constructing new buildings that will reflect its creative spirit.
