Canada is redrawing its internal borders in recognition of the territorial claims of its native Indian people. The Northwest Territories is offering 770,000 square miles to the Nunavut people. It would be the largest land settlement in history.

Canada must decide what to do to compensate the indigenous population for land that was taken away from them. Court cases have failed to support native land rights. Parliament is planning legislation to give tribes some autonomy.
