Southwark leaves Ritchie fuming

Article Abstract:

Planners, local groups and conservationist bodies slammed the proposals of Ian Ritchie ArchitectEs scheme for a 'cluster of mini-towers'. The proposed development by reason of the composition of the cluster of towers and the height, use of materials and detailed design of the upper storeys is considered to be an overly powerful built form that is out of scale and character with the local built context.

Failed bid sparks more PFI fears

Article Abstract:

Three highly respected architect firms , the Penoyre & Prasad, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, and van Heyningen and Haward Architects were controversially debarred from the Private Finance Initiative's (PFI) bid for six schools in Norwich . This failure represents a damaging blow for PFI 5, a group of practices that planned to work together to win medium scale PFI education work.

Fobert looks to the past for Kettle's Yard future

Article Abstract:

Jamie Fobert Architects has revealed its competition-winning proposals for the extension of Kettle's Yard in Cambridge. Fobert stated that the designs were inspired by the work that was carried out by other practices on the site during th e gallery's history, in particular Leslie Martin in 1970 and Brown, Bland and Cole in 1994.
