Specifier's choice: Birmingham Repertory Theatre

Article Abstract:

Architects Pawson Williams undertook the 7 million pounds sterling project to refurbish the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Birmingham, England. New seats, covered in leather, were fitted by Audience System. The new lighting system was fitted by Northen Light, with expert advice from theatre employees. The reception desk was made of maple and dark cherry wood whilst beech wood was used in all other areas of the theatre. Joinery work was undertaken by RW Joinery. The project was successfully managed under a construction management contract.

Specifier's choice: Waterfront Hall

Article Abstract:

The new Waterfront concert Hall in Belfast was built by Gilbert Ash Northern Ireland. Architect was Robinson & McIlwaine, with Peter McGuckin as project architect. The type of products specified and why they were used are described. The planar glazing was supplied and erected by Pilkington Glass, and the pitch for all services and air conditioning elements was won by the Harvey Group. Martin Carr of Carr & Angier advised on the stage and forestage elements. All doors and frames were made to acoustic specifications by Shapland & Petter.
