Spectators go to the dogs: Macau hopes to draw more eyes to Canidrome

Article Abstract:

Newly appointed Canidrome manager Dennis Wong believes that he can successfully rehabilitate the dog racing facility of the Canidrome to become the next big important betting event in Macau. Wong is starting rehabilitation work on the Canidrome, a 35-year old facility that has seen better days. Wong was given $3.5 mil to rehabilitate the facility and turn it into a premiere sporting event in Macau. Wong is trying to stir interest in dog racing by establishing a shorter race event, promoting the event via live television broadcast and advertising.

Beating the tourist trap

Article Abstract:

Many Asian countries have established their trade and tourism complaint centers to help facilitate the resolution of complaints by tourists visiting their countries. These centers help tourist contend with faulty service or advantage-taking by establishments. In Australia, tourist assistance has gone as far as creating the Travel Compensation Fund, a fund which can be drawn in cases of 'failed agents' or paid travel services that did not materialize.

Ghosts of politics past continue to haunt Indonesians

Indonesians are pessimistic of their country's future as the country's ghosts of past politics remain entrenched in their minds. A man from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, chooses to keep mum about the benefits, if any, of the tumultuous changes that have occured in the country in May 1998. His elation over ex-fPresident Suharto's resignation was tempered by the appointment of BJ Habibie as Suharto's replacement.
