Steady Eddie

Article Abstract:

Eddie Stobart, who has built up his haulage company, Eddie Stobart Ltd, to be the biggest of its kind in the UK, continues to plan for growth. The company operates 750 trucks and the sales forecast for 1998 is more than 100 million pounds sterling. The company is not popular in the haulage business, due to its constant undercutting of prices in an already tight market. Customers, however, appreciate the reliable service and committed workforce which are an important part of Stobart's business philosophy. Stobart's expansion plans include rail freight, the European market, and roadside restaurants.
