Steel marches on

Article Abstract:

There have been a number of significant developments in steel products for use in construction recently. British Steel, for example, has been able to develop off-site intumescent coatings, which can be applied by a number of different methods. This company is also to shortly make available parallel-flange channels, and has a range of asymmetrical sections for use with the Slimflor flooring system. The Steel Construction Institute has been undertaking research into the thermal properties of composite floors and steel frames.
