Stopgap Seasprite proves its worth for New Zealand

Article Abstract:

The Kaman SH-2F Seasprite has proven to be a reliable helicopter for the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN). The SH-2F was being used as an interim helicopter until the arrival of the SH-2G Supersprite, the RNZN's official Replacement Naval Helicopter for the Wasp. Naval Flight Commander John Toon said the SH-2F allowed naval aviation personnel to maintain their skills and conduct air operations with twin-engine aircraft equipped with radars. The RNZN used the SH-2F during operations in the Persian Gulf and in East Timor.

CMS dispute helped sink tripartite Horizon

Article Abstract:

The proposed development of an advanced trinational combat management system (CMS) for the UK/French/Italian Common New Generation Frigate (CNGF) program has been canceled. The program collapsed after the UK abandoned the warship component of CNGF to develop its own next-generation destroyer. The CMS was designed to combine the functions of real-time command and weapon control, longer-term command support and own-platform operational information.
