Struggling Mercedes drags Daimler's profit lower

DaimlerChrysler AG of Germany posted a 30 percent decrease in net income in the first quarter, as the flagship Mercedes Car Group announced revenue losses. The Mercedes Car Group has falling sales, quality concerns and a major restructuring of its Smart minicar product. DaimlerChrysler AG revenue fell two percent to $31.7 billion Euro and net income fell to $288 million Euro, an increase in operating profit is expected.
