Abro Industries Inc., a small U.S. producer of adhesives and sealants, has seen its name and its products appropriated by foreign companies in India, Turkey, and the former Soviet Union. While the Ohio-based company has successful curbed activities in these countries, it has become embroiled in a far more costly and tenacious fight in its efforts to put an end to China's Hunan Magic Power Industrial Co.'s piracy of its products and brand names.

Iraq reconstruction effort may be led by 3 companies: Pentagon office to oversee awarding of big contracts; deals may be set by Feb. 1

US officials announced intentions for selecting only three primary contractors to perform post-war reconstruction in Iraq, sidelining the US Agency for International Development and the Army Corps of Engineers, which have managed contracts to date. The public-works projects, expected to total $15 billion, constitute the largest the US has undertaken.
