Asia's interest-sensitive shares face dilemma over selling

Article Abstract:

Some analysts deemed it wise to sell Asian property and banking stocks in response to the US economy's growth during the July to September period in 1998. For some investors, a further plummet in US interest rates by mid-1999 will improve global liquidity and hasten the reduction in regional interest rates. However, if strong evidences in the US weaken the case for easing rates, investors may choose to start securing gains on interest-sensitive Asian stocks.
