Sukhoi likely won't be hurt by fighter crash

Article Abstract:

Sukhoi is not expected to be significantly damaged by the crash of its SU-30MK fighter at the 1999 Paris Air Show. The $34 million aircraft was destroyed when it crashed after clipping its tail exhaust on the ground on Jun 12, 1999. According to Merrill Lynch's Byron Callan, a single crash would be unlikely to have an impact, especially in the Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese markets where Sukhoi has been most successful recently. According to Sukhoi, the pilot has blamed human error, not equipment failure, for the mishap.

Corporate earnings for Asian companies are forecast to be down for the rest of the year, implying less growth is the stock market.
