System design and evaluation using discrete event simulation with AI

Article Abstract:

The Operational Evaluation Modeling (OpEM) Fuzzy, Adaptive Expert System Controller contained in the OpEM Simulation Tool Kit is a helpful aid in the development of optimal decision-making rules for intelligent, context-sensitive systems. The capabilities of the tool, which has primitives to carry out local and global decisions, were highlighted in a comparison between several decision methodologies and the OpEM Controller. In addition, a single-track railroad was also discussed as an example of a context-sensitive system.

Aggregating individual judgements and priorities with the Analytic Hierarchy Process

Article Abstract:

Selection of methods of aggregating individual judgements relies on whether the group is united or not in its undertakings. The aggregation of individual priorities (AIP) is adopted when members of a group being studied act as individuals. On the other hand, the average of individual judgement (AIJ) is employed when group members act as one unit. Adoption of AIJ results to elimination of individual identities and ineffectiveness of the Pareto principle.
