TOS Varnsdorf

TOS Varnsdorf (Varnsdorf, Czech Republic), manufacturer of horizontal boring and milling machines and horizontal machining centres, is increasing its exports. The firm's important markets are the US and Canada. The firm's sales on the markets increased by more than 30% in 1998 compared to 1996. TOS set up a trade firm named TOS America (Toronto, Canada) for its direct sales in North America in 1997. Besides, Omnitrade Machinery (OM) (Canada) sells machines from TOS Varnsdorf on the market. OM sold 106 machines from TOS Varnsdorf on the market in 1995-1997. In Latin America, TOS's exclusive representative is Ferrostaal (Germany). TOS's largest trade partner is the trade engineering firm Strojimport (Prague, Czech Republic). Strojimport sold machines from TOS Varnsdorf worth 350 mil Kc in 1997. Besides, Strojimport is successful in China, India, Iran, Thailand and Turkey. TOS Varnsdorf exported 95% of its production in 1997. The firm exports to 50 countries. The company's total turnover amounted to 1.3 bil Kc in 1997. The firm's investments exceed 100 mil Kc per year.

The connection of OSO Olomouc and TOS Varnsdorf

Article Abstract:

Tos Olomouc (Olomouc, Czech Republic), machine tool manufacturer, will produce the first two prototypes of the lathes CTX 200 and CTX 400 by March 1999. Tos Olomouc, which is a joint venture of the machine tool manufacturer Tos Varnsdorf (Varnsdorf, Czech Republic) and Trade Invest (Prague, Czech Republic), should produce the lathes worth 70 mil Kc for Gildemeister (Germany) during 1999. The contract was arranged by Tos Varnsdorf and Gildemeister. TOS Olomouc holds a 100% stake in Obrabeci stroje Olomouc (OSO) (Olomouc, Czech Republic), which was a long-term co-operation partner of Tos Varnsdorf. Tos Varnsdorf expects an increase in the utilisation of production capacities due to the connection with OSO, mainly in the field of co-operation with OSO in the machining of heavy components.

Tos Varnsdorf (Varnsdorf, Czech Republic), horizontal boring and milling machine manufacturer, wants to maintain its competitiveness compete on the global markets. The firm invests 100 mil Kc per year in the modernisation of its production base. The purchase of a portal machining centre from Waldrich Coburg will be one of the firm's key investments in 1998-1999. Tos will take over the equipment in April 1999.
