TRW will sell four auto units in bid to cut debt

Article Abstract:

TRW Inc. announced that it will sell off four of its automotive units in an attempt to reduce the debt it accumulated from its acquisition of LucasVarity PLC. The four automotive units have a combined revenue of approximately $2 billion. They also have a labor force consisting of more than 20,000 workers. Joseph Gorman, the chairman and CEO of TRW, said the sale will raise from $1.2 billion to $1.5 billion for the firm.

Pirelli, Cooper set Asian wheels in motion

Article Abstract:

Pirelli Tyres and Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. are seeking a partner in Asia. The president of Cooper, Thomas A. Dattilo, said that although the two firms are looking for an Asian partner, no deal is about to be consummated. The search for an Asian partners comes after Pirelli and Cooper formed a marketing alliance. Under the alliance, Cooper will market Pirelli tires to North America's replacement market.

GM, Nissan, Renault continue alliance talks

Negotiations between Chief Executive Rick Wagoner, General Motors Corp. of the United States and Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn, Regie Nationale des Usines Renault of France and Nissan Motor Co. of Japan occurred yesterday just outside of Paris at Renault headquarters. The automobile giants are considering a threeway alliance.
