TVO goes back to school

Article Abstract:

TVOntario's (TVO) new Chmn/CEO, Isabel Bassett, confronts a number of formidable challenges at the network barely one month after assuming her positions in Dec 1999. She must implement a shift in TVO's mandate towards continuing education as spelled out by the Ontario government. If TVO becomes purely educational in its focus, a network executive noted that this could change the composition of its sponsors. Media analysts say that a move toward more formal educational programming will cause TVO to experience a significant drop in audiences, members and sponsors.
