London subway trains now carry 500 posters featuring bits of poetry. An anthology of these underground poets has been published called '100 Poems on the Underground.' So far 17,000 copies have been sold and the book is 12 on the non-fiction best seller list.

Privatization of London's underground railway would succeed if it could partner market discipline with sound regulation. Government ownership makes sense in that there is no competition among rail networks because of the huge construction costs.
