Peace talks broke down in Angola in May 1993 after six weeks of negotiation. The UNITA rebel forces will not accept the defeat of their leader Joseph Savimbi in the elections in Sep 1992. The recognition of the Angolan government by the US infuriated UNITA negotiators.
