Telecom-gear mergers may start to heat up

The telecommunications equipment industry, including traditional fixed-line carriers as well as wireless, has seen a wave of acquisitions and mergers in the United States that have consolidated their customer base. Most recently SBC Communications Inc. acquired AT&T Corp. for $16 billion.

Euro-zone recovery begins - but slowly: France, Germany, Holland post 3rd-quarter growth, but pickup is still sluggish

Article Abstract:

The euro-zone economy received a boost from reports by Germany, France and the Netherlands, with overall gross domestic product eking out a 0.3% increase over second quarter results. Growth is not expected to reach a target of 2% to 2.5% until 2005, financial analysts predict.
