Tenet swung to loss in fiscal 4th quarter, hurt by Medicare cuts

Article Abstract:

Tenet Healthcare Corp. posted a $137 million (128.9 million euros) net loss for the fourth-quarter of 1998. The company was hurt by cuts in US Medicare payments which were higher-than-expected. Tenet also suffered from problems in billings and managed-care firms. The company posted $363 million in pretax charges for asset writedowns and reductions in overhead. The net loss was for the period ending on May 31, 1999.

MedPartners posts a wider net loss for second-quarter

Article Abstract:

MedPartners Inc. posted a $187.6 million (174.5 million euros) net loss for the second-quarter of 1999. The company blamed the wider loss on higher-than-expected costs to leave its physician practice management business. During the same period in 1998, MedPartners posted a $23.3 million net loss. The net loss for the 1999 quarter was equal to 96 cents per diluted share.

Tenet's profit rises, auguring well for hospital chains

Tenet Healthcare Corp. posted higher-than-expected profits for the third-quarter ending February 28, 2001. The company posted $198 million (220.1 million euros) in net income for the period, compared to $38 million during the same period the year before.
