Territorial cohesion: An unidentified political objective

Article Abstract:

The Constitutional Treaty, waiting for ratification, identifies territorial cohesion as one of the goals of the European Union and lists it among the competences shared between the Union and the Member States. The European territorial cohesion policy and its delivery mechanism are discussed.

Towards a European Territorial cohesion assessment network: A bright future for ESPON

Article Abstract:

The origins of European Spatial Planning Observation Network (ESPON), its set-up and prospects are discussed. With a view to its future role in relation to EU territorial cohesion policy, 'European Territorial Cohesion Assessment Network' (ETCAN) would be a more appropriate designation.
