The Diablo rides out for British Army Trigat trials

Article Abstract:

GHL Defence Products' Diablo diesel-powered all-terrain vehicle (ATV) has been used as a carrier for the Medium-Range Trigat anti-tank missile by the British Army's Infantry Trials and Development Unit. The ATV, which is also being offered to the South African National Defence Force, is also being considered as a potential vehicle for special forces personnel, paratroops, and as a carrier for artillery and air-defense weaponry.

UK work on advanced proximity fuzes

Article Abstract:

Thomson-Thorn Missile Electronics is progressing with the Pathfinder program, which involves the development of high performance proximity fuses. The effort, which is jointly funded by the company and the UK Defence Evaluation and Research Agency, focuses on the use diode-pumped neodymium or YAG microlasers. A demonstrator incorporating microlaser trancievers is due for completion in mid-2000.

IR/UV stimulators display tactical applications

Article Abstract:

Vision Abell of Australia and UK-based Elettronica are jointly developing a product called Mallina, a ruggedized, longer-range version of their Electro-Optical Stimulator. The Mallina modules can be used for various potential applications such as a surrogate surface-to-air missile. Among the companies' potential customers are the US Air Force, the National Guard, the Australian Dept of Defence, Japanese Air Self-Defense Force and various countries in Europe.
