The German market for fast food, such as hamburgers, chicken, pizzas, and desserts, has been growing steadily despite an economic recession due to a faster pace of life and decreased disposable income. McDonald's Corp dominates the hamburger market and the whole sector, in general, with a 60.4% value share in 1997. Hamburger outlets also represented the largest sector in terms of outlets in the same period with 1,161 or 37.7% market size. The pizza sector has posted the most growth since 1993 with an 18.3% increase in market share in 1997.
