The Internet isn't up to the task of helping you find a job in Asia

Article Abstract:

The Internet has provided a new medium for searching or placing job advertisements, but in Asia, the online medium is yet to offer the same benefits that it offers to users in the US. Evan Rudboeg, founder and managing director of Singapore-based Rudboeg & Rudboeg, cited his fruitless effort in recruiting for a regional programming executive through the Internet. The on-line job market caters mainly for US job hunters, while there are only a few Web sites that focus on the Asian job market.

Asia's Internet, Web users can avoid big phone bills with roaming service

Article Abstract:

Hong Kong-based Asia-Online Ltd. has launched a new service that will allow Internet users in Asia to access the World Wide Web without having to pay long-distance phone charges. The new service is called International Internet Roaming and it is available in Australia, Taiwan and the Philippines. Several Internet service providers in Singapore also plan to launch a similar service in the near future.

Prospective Internet users should realize that no two service providers are alike. Before subscribing, one should take into account factors such as the number of customers using the particular service provider, the number of lines, the speed of connections to the US, the number of support staff and the cost of services.
