The Fete des Vignerons or Festival of Winegrowers will be celebrated from Jul 29 to Aug 15, 1999 in Vevey, Switzerland. The festival showcases 15 open-air performances, four parades and participation by 5,000 actors, dancers and musicians, including those from the Orchestre dela Suisse Romande and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra. The event is a very rare one and has only been celebrated for the 11th time since it was first held in 1783.

Happy days are here again

Article Abstract:

Switzerland Tourism Pres Marco Hartmann cites two factors behind the decline in the Swiss tourist industry. These are the increasing choices of destinations available tourists and the strength of the Swiss franc which has made it more expensive for foreigners to visit the country. However, he says that Switzerland has taken steps to attract tourists such as offering free hotel accommodations and special interest holidays.
