The Platan brewery has new owner

Jihoceske pivovary (JP) (Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic), brewing company, is becoming smaller in 2000. Recently the firm sold its brewery Platan in Protivin Czech Republic, to the town of Protivin. The town of Protivin acquired a 100% stake in the brewery. JP, which includes the three breweries Samson (Czech Republic), Platan (Czech Republic) and Regent (Czech Republic), produced a total of 656,000 hl of beer in 1999.

Slovenske Telekomunikacie knows its new owner

Article Abstract:

Slovenske telekomunikacie (ST) (Bratislava, Slovakia), telecommunication firm, will be acquired by Deutsche Telekom (DT) (Germany). DT has offered 1 bil EUR for the 51% state stake in ST. The state will receive 600 mil EUR of the total sum and the rest will be used to raise ST's stock. DT has put itself under an obligation to invest 1 bil EUR in ST by 2003. Slovak telecommunications should be liberalized in 2003.

VSZ Kosice with a new owner

Article Abstract:

VSZ (Kosice, Slovakia), metallurgy company, will go to the hands of USX Global Holdings (USX) (US) with its activities in Oct 2000. USX will pay USD 395.5 mil for the transaction and plans to invest another USD 700 mil in VSZ by 2010. The entrance of USX means the covering of debts worth USD 411 mil for VSZ.
