The assault on Vietnam

Vietnam will receive loans from the IMF and World Bank, now that the US has lifted its objections, but the country is desperate for investment and trade as well. Vietnam's abject poverty, lack of infrastructure and Communist bureaucracy remain obstacles to proper use of capital.

Tet offensive: Vietnamese trade

Article Abstract:

Economic growth in Vietnam depends more on foreign investment than on the lifting of a US trade and investment embargo. Japan and other Asian countries are attracted by the large supply of cheap Vietnamese labor, and France has expressed some interest.
