The assemblies of Skoda Felicia cars will be started in Sarayevo

Article Abstract:

Skoda Auto (Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic), car firm, will start the supplies of its cars to Sarayevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the end of July 1998. The supplies will be realised on the base of a co-operation contract. The contract was arranged by the concern Volkswagen (VW) (Wolfsburg, Germany) and Unis Holding (UH) (Bosnia and Herzegovina). According to the contract, VW and UH will set up a 58:42 joint venture called Volkswagen Sarayevo (VW Sarayevo) (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The joint venture's plant should assemble several hundreds of Skoda Felicia cars from Czech components by the end of 1998. The plant's production should be extended to 5,000-10,000 cars per year gradually and to 35,000 car per year after 2000. The plant should have 1,200 employees in future. The plant should also produce components for the firms of the concern VW (Germany).

SA has started to assemble Felicia cars in Sarayevo

Article Abstract:

Skoda Auto (SA) (Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic), car company, will participate in the revival of the economy in Bosnia after the Yugoslavian war. The firm started the assemblies of its Skoda Felicia cars at Volkswagen Sarayevo (VWS) (Sarayevo, Bosnia) on 31 August 1998. VWS should produce nearly 10,000 pieces of the cars per year from 1999 and nearly 35,000 pieces after 2000. The extension of the plant's production depends on demand in countries of the former Yugoslavia and the whole Southeastern Europe. VWS will have 1,200 employees during its full operation. VWS has a 58% stake held by the concern Volkswagen (VW) (Germany) and a 42% stake by Unis Holding (Bosnia). SA is owned by VW.

Felicia cars in Bosnia

Article Abstract:

Skoda Auto (SA) (Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic), car company, will start the assemblies of Skoda Felicia cars at a plant in Bosnia at the end of July 1998. The plant will assemble only several hundreds of the vehicles in 1998. The company expects to produce 5,000-10,000 pieces of the vehicles per year in Bosnia in 1999-2000. The plant's production could be extended to nearly 35,000 Felicia cars per year after 2000. SA also started the assemblies of its vehicles in Poland in 1994.
