The cost of Kosovo

Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom government has given little information on the cost of the war in Yugoslavia, and the share that the UK has to pay. The cost is rising daily, and there is also a dispute between the Ministry of Defense and the Treasury over who should pay. The Treasury argues that it should come from the defense budget, while the defense ministry argues that it should come from a contingency fund for emergencies. There will also be costs involved in economic reconstruction in Yugoslavia after the conflict ends. There are issues related to the future defense budget that also dividethe Treasury and defense ministry.

Sam Bond: sounds funny

Article Abstract:

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is seeking more funds, and argues that this will improve its ability to gather information. The CIA has been criticised for inefficiency, but an improvement in its efficiency may not make the agency better loved. The agency favors secrecy, but the US public favors disclosure. A Democratic senator, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, has argued that secrecy used by the CIA has not been necessary and has not increased the agency's effectiveness.
